Why?

Why blog about something as personal as your eating disorder?

When blogging became more accessible to the masses, I looked around and couldn't for the life of me find an accessible, empathetic blog written by someone suffering from an eating disorder.  I started this blog to simply have a place to put my thoughts, but also to make sure the thoughts were out there and available to other people going through what I was (and am) going through.  It was (and is) easy to find "eating disorder blogs" that are more or less how-to manuals, or that are written from a professional perspective.  I thought it was important to get our voice out there, to let every woman (or girl, or man, or boy) know that they are not alone.

If you're just realizing you have a problem?  You're not alone.  If you're wondering how you're ever going to stop?  You're not alone.  If you're going through the excruciating motions of recovery and waiting for your real self to kick back in?  You're not alone.  If you're simultaneously relapsing and wanting to claw your way back from the precipice?  You are definitely not alone.

The more the word gets out there, the less alone we'll all feel.  When you shine the light on something, you scare away the shadows of shame that were trying to hide it.  It's my goal to put it all out there - the recovery process, relapse, recovery again, and the random happenings in between - so my experience can be a resource and a support.
